Where are you from?

 "Where did you come from?" と "Where are you from?" の違い....  大体 "Where are you from?" の方が良いでしょう。 "Where did you come from?" ですと、1) 昔の時代の言い方の感じ？ エンジンの無い風で動く船で何週間かけて, 遠い遠い国に行って 「丸々国から遣って来ました!」の感じ？  2) あまりにも変わってる人に 「いったい、どこの誰ですか?!  あなたは...」の感じ？ それじゃ、旅中で他人と会話を始まると「どこの人ですか？」を聞きと以下のような会話は一つの例でござる。

A: So... where are you from?

B: Japan.

A: What part of Japan?

B: Tokyo.

A: Ah, Tokyo!  Such a dynamic city!

B: Have you been to Tokyo?

A: Only once.

B: When did you go?

A: Five years ago.

B: Before the pandemic....

ところで"dynamic"は躍動的の意味です。
